A gathering of 34 members and guests were both educated and entertained by our key speaker Mr Steve Van Aperen. The event was conducted at Complex Institute of Education and Steve exceeded expectations in a most practically delivered session.

With the growing number of young professionals entering the security industry as a first career and to encourage new members to join ASIS International, the Victoria Australia Chapter is promoting its Young Professionals Council.

The ASIS International 61st Annual Seminar and Exhibits is being conducted between 28 September and 1 October 2015 in Anaheim USA. It is anticipated around 20,000 Security colleagues will be in attendance including members of the Victoria Australia Chapter.

Members will remember a May 2015 ASIS Victoria breakfast presentation on court security by Judge Eugene Hyman at Nab, Docklands. Amongst other things Judge Hyman is an expert on strategies associated with managing domestic violence across the criminal justice system. He actually founded the first domestic violence courts in the USA.

Safe work Australia has published a guide to assist employers and other key stakeholders understand the term “reasonably practicable” in workplace health and safety.

The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation has issued updated guidelines (June 2015) to determine if a person is in a state of intoxication for the purposes of the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 (Vic).
