Work Health and Safety - Officer Duty Guidance

First prison sentence handed down for breach of WHS duty offence
Our friends at Sparke Helmore Lawyers report the first time an individual has been sentenced imprisonment (6 months) following breaches of WHS duty provisions relating to her involvement in a 2017 workplace fatality. Despite being available to courts for a number of decades, we are not aware of any person in Australia receiving a non-suspended custodial sentence for a breach of a WHS duty provision…
