Security Risk Management – Back to the Basics!

According to the Australian Government, adopting a risk based approach allows agencies to prioritise activities based upon the likelihood and consequence of a risk being realised.

Security leaders need to ensure their approach to security risk management identifies:

• Specific risks to their people, information and assets
• The organisation’s level of risk tolerance
• Appropriate protections to reduce or remove risks
• Untreatable residual risks
