Security guard sacked for unreasonable intervention
A security guard who intervened on a suspected shoplifter in Prahran claims to have been sacked by his employer.
The altercation occurred outside a Coles store off Chapel Street, in Prahran.
CCTV footage of the incident shows the guard throwing punches and grabbing at the suspected shoplifter, while bystanders looked on and in some cases tried to intervene.
A person was heard shouting racial slurs at the guard, and was arrested shortly after by police.
Both Coles and the guard's employer did not comment on action taken against the guard after the incident.
