Queensland Dinner Presentation by ASIS Victoria Chair

On Friday 1 August 2014 our Chair, Dr Tony Zalewski was invited to speak at an ASIS Queensland Australia Chapter dinner in Brisbane.

After recently arriving back into Australia, Dr Tony Zalewski increased his frequent flyer points account by flying to Brisbane as a guest of the Queensland Chapter. Tony's subject for the dinner was "Underbelly - A Family Corrupting the Establishment From Victoria." Although expected to speak for approximately 30 minutes the presentation and resulting questions ran for nearly an hour.

The audience was suitably entertained with both serious and humerous accounts of Tony's days as an Armed Robbery Squad detective dealing with some of Melbourne's more infamous criminal families during the 1980s. Tony also discussed the previous system for police accountability, its vulnerabilities and why changes over recent years has improved accountability and service across policing generally.

The Victoria Chapter is most appreciative of its Queensland colleagues working collaboratively in promoting ASIS throughout Australia and we look forward to the Queensland Chair (Mr Bill Harding) visiting us in Victoria later this year.
