First Nations Working Group and VSIAC

Behind the scenes, the First Nations Working Group headed by Executive Committee member Nick Karas is developing a framework to increase security industry participation by the indigenous community.

The Working Group comprises eight members and has recognised several areas of challenge for indigenous people entering the private security industry in Victoria.

At present, a draft paper has been developed and submitted to VSIAC for review and comment. Preliminary thoughts are most positive albeit several barriers are not necessarily exclusive to the indigenous community.

We congratulate Nick and the working group for their efforts to date. This discussion had to occur and will no doubt continue across VSIAC and the security industry.
