February Breakfast - Another Successful Event!

The "sold out" February Breakfast at the Metropolitan, Melbourne today was another success for the Chapter. Those is attendance were well informed and entertained by the two guest speakers Michael Wheeldon and Rob Rosa.

Michael Wheeldon provided indepth information and statistics about drug and alcohol testing in the workplace. He explained that oral liquid testing is a reliable indicator of work fitness across a number of industry sectors including transport and service industries. Over recent years the number of positive returns has increased from 1 in 40 two years ago to as low as 1 in 23. Michael explained that (unfortunately) his national company will only continue to profit from increased illicit drug use, especially "ice."

Rob Rosa discussed the impact of electronics on personnel (manpower) security including advancements in CCTV as an alternative to traditional security guarding. Rob's data about licensing and registration were most pursuasive in disclosing a downward trend for security licensing against upward fiscal trends in electronics. In presenting two case studies, Rob was able to explain achievement of substantial savings where entities have utilised electronic remote controls rather than engagement of security guards to perform access and weighbridge duties at major production plants. Rob is the CEO of Q Security Systems, our Chapter's latest Gold Sponsor.

The Chapter is most appreciative of the efforts our guest speakers make to ensure our events remain an ongoing success.
