New Intoxication Guidelines From Liquor Regulator

The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation has issued updated guidelines (June 2015) to determine if a person is in a state of intoxication for the purposes of the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 (Vic).

The intoxication guidelines are attached to this notice. These guidelines simplify a previous publication and are particularly important to the licensees, staff working at licensed premises and more importantly leaders responsible for the development and implementation of a security system at licensed premises or events where there is an authority to serve alcohol.

Although intoxication is defined in section 3AB(1) of the Act these guidelines are an important explanation of basic signs to be observed.

Additional information relevant to licensed premises is available from the Victorian liquor regulator on www.vcglr.vic.gov.au
