Law and Order Election Framework

Although crime reports of burglary and home invasions are down on the last two years, the pending Victorian government elections appear based upon the fear of crime and law and order.

The fear of crime was the number one issue of concern according to a recent IPSOS survey.  According to the survey, 48% of those responding listed this concern over 29% of the previous survey.

Victoria's Crime Statistics Agency disclose that Victoria has the second lowest rate of offending in Australia, after the ACT.  Reported crime rates actually fell 7% in 2018 after a spike in rates in 2016 and 2017.

Youth offender rates had also reduced 5% in 2016 and 2017 on the previous year.
