Labour Hire Regulation - Minimising Exploitation of Workers

The Victorian Parliament has passed the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic) to regulate activities of businesses that provide labour to other entities.

The legislation introduces licensing for providers of labour hire.  Amongst other things the legislation protects labour hire workers from exploitation as licensed organisations must meet several standards that include fit and proper person, compliance with various industrial and workplace laws including health and safety.

A new regulator is introduced known as the Labour Hire Licensing Authority.
